We've all been there, should i buy travel insurance, should i not, will it be worth it, or is it just a waste of money. Here are 5 reasons why you should definitely buy travel insurance for your next trip, and why it's 100% worth it.
It's not that expensive- Travel insurance really isn't that expensive especially if you're a younger traveller and have no existing medical conditions. You can get good travel insurance that covers you for a whole year for under £50, you just click the places you want to be covered, obviously certain places cost more. Use a travel insurance comparison website to compare different sites and costs, and see what they include. Here is my favourite and the one i mostly use - https://www.travelsupermarket.com/en-gb/travel-insurance/
Flights and Cancellations- If you have travel insurance they will usually cover you, if your flight is cancelled and delayed, or if you need a new flight booking. If your flight is delayed by a certain amount of time, then you can often claim on your insurance. They will also help you buy looking for alternative routes, so you can get to your destination, and will often cover the cost.
Lost and Stolen Items- Most travel Insurance policies will also cover you if you lose, or have any items stolen. This can be very useful as if you lose your suitcase, you can buy more clothes. Also if your luggage gets lost on connections or flights. Many travel insurance companies will often reimburse you.
Accidents and Illnesses- If you have an accident, for example break your leg, or need medical care/attention. In foreign countries the costs can often be extortionate, that without travel insurance, we just wouldn't be able to afford. The chance of it happening is quite slim, but if it does happen then at least you're covered, and know you can get treatment and get home. They will also often give you prescriptions and any medication you need for free, as long as you have travel insurance.
Activity and Sport- Most insurance policies will also cover you if you have an accident doing some adventurous activity. Whether it's bungee jumping or even swimming, you'll be covered, which just puts your mind at rest. So when you're doing these activities you know if something happens you're covered.
More Freedom- Being insured gives you more freedom to do what you like, you can be a bit more adventurous, and do more activities knowing if there is an accident you're covered. Especially useful in countries where health and safety regulations are little, if not non existent.
Having No Insurance could ruin Your Life- This sounds kind of extreme but it kind of could. If you really injure yourself when abroad and don't have insurance to cover medical bills. Say you have a motorcycle accident, and the treatment costs tens of thousands of pounds, how are you going to afford to pay it back. It makes sense to just pay for insurance.
